Peanut Butter Banana Dog Treats

Dogs need treats too, right? And we had over-ripe bananas to use, which always prompts me to go searching for recipes. For some reason our golden retriever is gaga for bananas, so this recipe seemed like a good way to go. It's simple, quick and much cheaper than store-bought dog biscuits. As a variation, I've seen other recipes that don't use the egg, but double the peanut butter. Vegan dog treats - worth trying!

Peanut Butter Banana Dog Treats
Adapted from Wild Wild Whisk

2 ripe bananas, mashed (about 1 cup)
1/4 cup peanut butter
1 1/2 cups oat flour
1/2 cup white flour
1 egg

Mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl. The mixture will be dry. Use your hands to knead the dough and incorporate all the flour.

Divide the dough into thirds and use your hands to roll each ball into a long tube shape, about the thickness of a hotdog. Cut into 1/2" slices and transfer to a baking sheet. Press your thumb into each slice of dough to shape it into a round dimpled shape.

Bake for 20 minutes, flip the treats and bake another 20 minutes until browned and very firm.
