Chocolate Tahini Spread


I used to be obsessed with this almond and honey spread, but now that I'm avoiding nuts, this makes a good substitute. I love halva with chocolate, but the commercial varieties are too sweet. This spread can be eaten with apple or banana slices for a snack. I used cocoa powder here because it was convenient, but you could also try melted dark chocolate.

Chocolate Tahini Spread

Makes a scant cup

3/4 cup tahini
3 Tblsp honey
1 Tblsp cocoa powder (or 2 oz melted dark chocolate)
Dash of sea salt

Stir the tahini so the oil is well-incorporated. Measure it out into a glass jar. Add the rest of the ingredients and stir well. This keeps in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
