Slow Cooker Chai

This is a great recipe for holiday parties!  My son likes to set up the slow cooker the night before to make the spiced mixture (pictured below).  He steeps the tea and adds the milk right before the guests show up. Be prepared to hand out copies of the recipe.

Slow Cooker Chai
Makes 3 1/2 quarts

3 1/2 qts water
15 slices fresh ginger, peeled
15 green cardamom pods, crushed
25 whole cloves
3 cinnamon sticks
3 whole black peppercorns
8 black tea bags
1 14-oz can sweetened condensed milk

Pour water into the crock of a slow cooker.  Add ginger, caradamom, cloves, cinnamon and peppercorns.  Turn on high and simmer for 8 hours or on low overnight.

Steep tea bags in the hot spiced water for 5 minutes.  Remove the tea bags.  Stir in the sweetened condensed milk.  Adjust the setting on the slow cooker to warm.  Serve hot.
